Malachai:  You submitted a comic to the school newspaper. It was printed (!) . . . but you had some concerns about the quality about the printing.  You slipped out of class as soon as you saw the newspaper so that you could express your concerns to the principal.  To be honest, it always makes me a little bit nervous when you take matters into your own hands . . . but I'm also proud of you; you live passionately, bud.

Josu: You love, love going to the park to play (american) football with Papa. Sometimes the game is put on pause when we run into someone we know. sigh.

Selma:  You told us over dinner that one of the boys in your class asked you to be his girlfriend and his wife.
"What did you say?" I asked
"Oh, I just pretended that I didn't hear him" you said.

check out Jamey and Gab's blogs too;  sheesh . . . I miss my family!

  1. Hi Naomi! I came across your blog from the Motherhood Around the World Series. I love it :) I looked around for a while trying to find some contact info, but didn't have any luck. I write for bestofbabylady.com and I'm putting together a piece on birthing abroad. Would you be interested in submitting a simple testimony? I would love to collaborate with you:) My email is bestofbabylady (at) gmail (dot) com. Thank you!

    1. Hey Iulia! ay. sorry about the lack of contact info (sometimes/usually I'm kind of a scattered mess :) )
What a great project! Let's totally talk about what you are thinking . . . I'll try to email you by the end of the week (fingers crossed) and maybe I'll get my contact info up on the blog too? :) naomismith.hellohellohola (at) gmail (dot) com

  2. I love this. I love the look on Josu's face that definitely tells exactly how he was feeling at this point. And Malachi just makes me smile. And of course someone asked Selma to be his girlfriend and wife, who wouldn't???

  3. Hi Naomi! Joanna from Cup of Jo just sent me the link to your blog because we (my husband and 3 boys) are about to move from the New Jersey suburbs (outside NYC) to Mexico City in May! I'd love to hear your impressions of neighborhoods, preschools, kindergartens. My boys are 4 months, 3 years, and 5 years old. We'd love to find bilingual schools for them since they all understand Spanish (working on the conversational Spanish). My husband works in the Colonia Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood -- so we're looking at Lomas, Polanco, Condessa...even Santa Fe (although it is further away). I fly down next week on Tuesday to look at housing. Anyway, I'm glad to find you here and see your beautiful family thriving in Mexico! - Abby Low @abbyclawsonlow (Instagram)

  4. Naomi!

I just thought to check in b/c I never left my email address! Abby.Low at gmail dot com! I'm here in DF now (until Tuesday). We found a home and I'm still visiting schools. I love it here. If meeting up doesn't work this week -- we'll be back after spring break. Let me know what works for you.

  5. Hi Naomi, I was thinking about you and your family today so thought I would check your blog. I love the photos of your kids and your thoughtful comments. I'm also encouraged to read about the church starting in your home - everyone looks happy singing, learning, worshipping and of course, eating. I'm in Tucson, AZ but leave for Seville, Spain next Mon. for three months. If I remember correctly you used to live in Spain. If so, where? I've invited Cecile to come from Tel Aviv to visit me there and she just might. We'll give you a shout out from there. Love and blessings. Bobbye Trotter (I hope you remember me?)
